Red Moss is large peat moss wetland that was the site of a moss cutting industry together with coal pits, a farm and water pumping station many years ago. Today it is a haven for wildlife and a great place to explore, although it can be overgrown, muddy and difficult to negotiate in places.

Brett Gregory is an award-winning filmmaker based in Bolton whose production company, Serious Feather, is currently making a documentary about autism and poetry.
As a part of this production, Landscape Britain was asked to advise with regards to the location of specific areas of outstanding natural beauty throughout the region.
