The stone heads of two angels are located close to the re-covered Holy Well spring, once placed either side of a stone arch, one remains in-situ with the other known to be close-by.
The angels were probably once ornaments from the old Holy Well that gave Halliwell its name. The Holy Well was situated almost opposite Barrow Bridge chimney near the entrance to the car park but was filled in when a child of the local landowner fell into the well and died as it is told locally. Nothing remains of at the original site of the well but an artificial spring was created nearby from which the old Holy Well waters issue.
